On my last trip to Porto I came across this little café that immediately caught my eye. The inside seemed like a little forest, with wood that resemble trees on the walls. I checked out the menu that was shown outside and decided to come back for lunch. And that was a really good decision!

Floresta is run by Mariia Kulagina and Alexey Mikhaylov, who also own other places like Do Norte and Hungry Biker. The cafe has a small terrace in front in the busy and famous Rua das Flores and some tables inside. It’s open for breakfast, brunch and lunch. They serve a variety of coffees and teas, smoothies and juices. There are specialties such as sweet pancakes with seasonal fruits, dried fruits, cocoa and homemade coffee cream (EUR7,50), homemade waffles with bacon, eggs, cucumbers and francesinha sauce (EUR9,90) and toasts such as smoked salmon and scrambled eggs (EUR9,90) or the strawberry fields, with strawberries and cream cheese (EUR8,50). At Floresta you can also find the Hungry Biker brunch, with two menus (both EUR14,95). The first menu has scrambled eggs, bacon, grilled sausage, grilled mushrooms, potatoes with green sauce, roasted tomatoes, salad with fermented red onion, toast with butter and jam, natural yogurt with fruit, honey granola, and coffee or tea (hot or cold). The second menu is almost the same, but instead of the bacon and sausage you get smoked salmon and avocado. There are also vegetarian options.

I ordered a toast with tofu, chick peas, avocado, mushrooms and balsamico (I think it’s vegan but am not sure) and it was so delicious (EUR7,90). Normally I don’t really eat a lot of bread (because I don’t like it), but this toast was so good! Made with fresh bread, dark but not too heavy and the right amount for a lunch. I also had a smoothie, which was equally delicious although I don´t remember which flavor I had. I sat by myself on the little terrace in front of the cafe looking at all the people walk by and it was such a nice experience. Not to mention the friendliness of the girl who helped me. I have nothing but love for this place!
