Martinhal Sagres Beach Resort & Hotel
Martinhal Beach Resort & Hotel is a five star family resort in Portugal’s southern region, the Algarve. The luxury resort is located within a natural park and has its own beach, Praia Martinhal. Although it’s a 238-room resort it blends organically into the natural landscape. Martinhal is an excellent destination for families traveling with young children as it offers many kids activities, extras for children in the room (such as potties, diaper bins and high chairs) and counts with baby sitting services. Almost all five heated pools have a toddler-friendly area and there are several play areas dotted around the resort. The rooms are located in the boutique hotel and there are secluded, fully equipped houses with different views (beach front, bay side or village, to name a few).
If you are looking for a kid-free vacation this might not be your first option, but Martinhal Sagres is as much a getaway for families as it is for couples. It is also an ideal location for weddings and other celebrations. Besides surfing and other outdoor activities you can visit the nearby town of Sagres and Cabo São Vicente, also called “Fim do Mundo” (End of the world). Activities have been restricted due to the COVID-19 pandemic so please check beforehand which activities are still running and which ones are not, however surfing and cycling are always available.
During our trip we stayed in a Bay House, which is a townhouse with two floors and partial ocean view. Downstairs you can find the three bedrooms and two bathrooms (one with bath tub) and upstairs is the living room, dining area and kitchen. There are also two terraces, with bean bags for total relaxation (and excellent for the kids). The interior is simple but sophisticated with furniture in soft colors. You can make your own meals in the very well-equipped kitchen, but room service is also available with plenty of different choices (meat, fish, vegetarian, kids meals).
We didn’t make use of the kids´ club because we only stayed for a short period and I just wanted to do some fun stuff with the kids. So we tried out the playground and trampolines and took a few dips in the pool. The pool that we visited is located right next to the beach and we were pleasantly surprised by its temperature and size. Perfect for some fun splashes with your little ones and relax after with a drink and a snack from the bar. From the pool area you have access to the Praia Martinhal which offers a beautiful scenery with its soft sand and little islands just in front.
Martinhal Sagres is beautifully integrated in nature and the resort (and the other Martinhal venues) does its part in keeping the environment beautiful and healthy for future generations. Their sustainability efforts include:
