Oasis Dive Resort

Alona Beach, where Oasis Diver Resort is located, on Panglao Island can be found in the island province of Bohol. Alona beach, with its white sand,  is the most beautiful and most developed beach of Panglao island. Oasis Resort is part of a string of establishments that are spread along the shoreline just off the beach. The design of the resort was inspired by local culture, native structures and nature herself. In season the gardens are teeming with flowers, beautiful tropical plants and trees that offer welcoming shaded areas. There is always a waitress around to assist you with food and drink orders.

This boutique resort was originally built to provide accommodation for the divers of Seaquest Dive Center. The core of the resort is a lush garden that houses bungalows with native design. These bungalows house 2 rooms each. In 2013 the resort constructed a new building in the garden area that houses 4 rooms (Super Deluxe rooms) and (honeymoon) Suite-room on the second floor. These rooms are all facing the swimming pool. It preserved the natural beauty of the tropical environment and offers divers and non-divers a holidays experience where it all comes together. The resort boasts two restaurant areas, a comfy garden lounge with cocktail bar, a beach front with a beach lounge and bar, a child-friendly swimming pool and an on-site dive center.

The beautiful green resort was opened in December of 2000. The resort is built on a spacious 5000m2 lot and has slowly and carefully been built up to as you see it today. All in all there are 27 rooms, 16 rooms housed in 8 spacious two duplex (two under one roof) cottages, 5 two-story rooms at the beach side, 4 beautiful Super Deluxe rooms and 1 Suite. All buildings are constructed using native and natural materials. The roofs are made of what the locals call: ‘Nipa’ . This is the leave of fresh water palm that grows only in certain areas in Bohol. Furthermore lots of bamboo and wood were used to give the resort an overall natural look. From the garden area follow a pathway to a flight of stairs that leads to the beach. Here the resort has more rooms, a beach bar and a restaurant with lounge couches. Chaise-longs and parasols are provided during the day and in the evening dining tables are placed on the beach.

Some of the staff has worked in the resort for many years. They have become somewhat of a big family and many guest returns to also enjoy their company. It’s not only the environment and the facilities that make Oasis Resort such an appreciated place.

More info on sustainable practices carried out by Oasis Dive Resort:

What do you do to reduce waste in your facility? We segregate and compost ourselves and use the compost for the garden. We try to buy products in larger containers to reduce waste.

What other sustainable measures are applied at your facility (e.g. energy and water saving, use of less disposables, use of organic cleaning materials etc.)? We catch the rain water that we put in big underground tanks and that we re-use for watering our garden. We also have solar panels on the roof to save electricity.

Do you encourage and facilitate recycling? Yes, we have recycling bins and we organize cleanups.

Do you offer other sustainable services to your guests/clients? In our bar and restaurant we only sell glass water bottles (1 liter) and we stopped selling plastic water bottles. The glass bottles will go back to supplier for recycling. Furthermore, guests can buy our Oasis Resort Tumbler which can be refilled with water for free during their entire stay in our resort. We only serve take-out food or pack lunches in recycled carton boxes or paper bags (instead of styrofoam or plastic).

What else do you do to minimize your environmental impact? We only serve bamboo or paper straws upon request.
